How to Measure a Fruit

To calculate your pumpkin weight, you need to obtain three measurements with a flexible measuring tape.

  1. Circumference - Measure the circumference of the fattest part of the pumpkin parallel to the ground.

  2. End to end - Place your tape measure on the ground at the stem end, and at the blossom end.  Measure the distance from ground to ground.

  3. Side to Side – Place the tape perpendicular to the plant stem at the widest point of the pumpkin.  Place it on the ground on both sides, and measure this distance.

Add all three measurements together, and refer to the appropriate table above to estimate your fruit’s weight.
